COTTON TUBING / INSULATION

Unbleached natural cotton tubing

2mm thin or thick wall
AU $2.45 per metre

2.5mm
AU $2.60 per metre

Cotton- the natural enviromentally-friendly insulator that gives better results than Teflon and other plastics. Cotton has a better dielectric constant than Teflon and PE. Use it to insulate copper or silver wire - Sound is a lot more open and less grainy than Teflon. Also great as it dampens vibrations along the cable. Great for speaker cables as well, but you will need to run wire sufficient for the speakers and amp. But well worth it - you will get excellent results. Not recommended for insulating wire to be used as power cables.

Dielectric Constants

Cotton: 1.3 - 1.4

Polypropylene/PP:1.5

Teflon/PTFE: 2

Polyethylene/PE: 2.2 - 2.4

Polyvinyl Chloride/PVC: 3.4

Once you have tried cotton you will not use anything else.

2mm thin wall Cotton accepts up to 24ga. (.5mm wire)

Tip for feeding wire through the cotton: use a sewing needle feed wire through the hole of the needle insert needle (blunt end) in to the cotton.
